Men Carrying Flowers is an ongoing work by artist Ophelia Mikkelson Jones. Captured on an iPhone camera, the photographs document an intimate gesture in a public space: a man carrying flowers, on the street. The work pursues the unplanned and fleeting occurrence over ten years, considering kindness as a matter to be found and followed.

On Men Carrying Flowers Vol. 2: "When Vol.1 was published, people from everywhere, all over the world, started sending me their sightings. This was something I did not expect because in those first five years, taking these photos was something I did and thought about alone. And then I began receiving all these images that other people had taken. Through their eyes. Photographs from places I had never been. Inspired by an image taken in 1961 of her father as an altar boy during a transatlantic trip to Italy, and heavily influenced by her grandmother's home textiles and personal style, ALTARS is a visual extension of familial history by Jenna Sararo.
